Wallpaper? YES PLEASE!

A co-worker of mine, Adam, sent me this link to some amazing wallpapers today. My general outlook on residential wallcoverings has never been very positive, but lately there have been some amazing wallpaper designs surfacing. This link, and the wallcoverings posted are some amazing modernized retro coverings I love! Imagine one bold accent wall. Amazing
Make sure you check out the link and the gallery!

Threadless

So since living in Chicago I have found a delightful little t-shirt shop, that might be my favorite store ever. All their t-shirts are designed by the staff or customers or just the average joe. You can submit a design on-line and people vote whether it should be printed or not. I eventually want to design a shirt and submit it. In the mean time, here are some shirts that have made it and been printed. I love these ones and find them HI-larious. I hope you enjoy just as much as I do.

I had a delightful time in Florida for Christmas and its been difficult to get back into the groove of things. More to come soon.

My Little Christmas Tree

My tree!

Plus a cute little picture from Thanksgiving of Mahmoud and I.

So, I wasn't going to buy a little Christmas tree or really decorate for the holidays...UNTIL, Mahmoud and I saw this cute little Christmas tree for only 5 dollars! It gives my apartment a little Christmas spirit. I also got the cute little sparkly black fawn to go with it. :  )

I am getting ready to go to Florida on Friday and I am excited! I have been a little emotionally drained recently and I am in need of a good break and some vitamin D from the rays of SUNSHINE I will be expecting.
Safe travels to everyone who is traveling and Happy Holidays!

Tis that time of year...

I got this ear-warmer from a co-worker of mine during our office gift exchange!

so last weekend was my company christmas party extravaganza & office gift exchange. it was at a delicious middle eastern restaurant where we sat on low seating, (some people, NOT in dresses, sat on poufs on the floor) there was a belly dancer, and a tarot card reader...which freaked me out at first! Mahmoud came up from Florida to be my date, he looked soooo handsome, i think. So here are a few pictures from the event.
so the tarot card reader...she asked me for a topic and I said career...according to her, there is going to be a lot of opportunities for travel coming up, i will get along with all my co-workers and that I have a positive vibe and I get what I want. Nothing too bad. I have lots of projects coming up so I will keep everyone posted.

p.s. I started reading Twilight which just came out as a movie, and its been great so far! I am going to make myself finish it before I see the movie...but I love it so far, it makes me smile on the train, so hopefully people think i am crazy and wont try and mess with me.

Dining By Design

Last week I was lucky enough to attend an annual Dining by Design Cocktail Event. It is another fundraiser the design community does for the fight against Aids. Companies will sponsor designers to create these magnificent table settings. Each booth is about 10 x 10, and cost about TEN thousand dollars. Items are donated and borrowed by the designers to create these dining area beauties. Reps will invite designers to the show to wooo them, and the tickets to the show are 100 dollars. It was sooo much fun, a great chance to get to know some other designers and sometimes there are famous people! (I didn't see any this time though) Here are some of the pictures I took.

Wooden Man

This is my rough, rough interpretion of the wooden man. The wooden man is who my dad told us that he was building in the basement of our house in CT. His teeth are my siblings and my BABY TEETH. Creepy.

20 Things You May Not Know About Me

1. Well, it is commonly known that my old sister Nicole likes to dissect her food...well, one morning before middle school we were eating some cereal, Golden Grahams to be exact, whilst eating my bowl I noticed a glob of goo (probably just some sugar and cinnamon...at least I hope). I knew Nicole would be cautiously eating so when she went to the bathroom I strategically moved the goo from my bowl to hers...IT WENT UNNOTICED, SHE ATE IT! I felt so bad...I told her a few years later.

2. I check every potential hiding spot for a predator (human or mystical) before I go to bed. Even our house in Cornelius. Sometimes I couldn't sleep until I checked the closets in the play room.

3. If I had to choose between chocolate or diet coke for the rest of my life...I would choose diet coke, hands down.

4. My favorite show is ANIMAL COPS! (any location)

5. If I weren't an Interior Designer I would probably be a Hair Stylist. They have no problems with self expression...and they can pull just about anything off.

6. I want full tattoo sleeves. I don't have the nads though...or the right career for it...maybe if I were a HAIR STYLIST!

7. I don't think I had my REAL first kiss until Freshman year of college, because kissing boys made me nervous and gave me gas! HAHAHAHA.

8. I have a dent in the top of my head from walking into a stone shelf when I was younger.

9. I cried myself to sleep one night in high school cause I missed my older brother.

10. I love scream singing. NOT the broadway musical type of scream singing.

11. I won Outstanding Achievement in Interior Design 2 years in a row at my highschool. :  )

12. I once let this TOOL guy copy my homework answers in high school because he was cool and some people thought attractive.  I was so pissed at myself for letting him I went to my teacher the next morning crying and told her. She sided with me and told me it was ok.

13. I agree with Whitney on this one... I would rather go to the gyno and have my pikachu checked out than go to the dentist.

14. I once got pulled over in highschool for swerving while driving on a back road on the way home from an Aerosmith concert with my friend Nancy. (I was NOT drinking, but adjusting my belt because I had to pee...I wasnt even swerving) The officer said...have you been drinking and I responded with, NO WAY, MY MOTHER WOULD KILL ME!!! Why?...He said okay, just checking and let me go.

15. I have a phobia or caterpillars. eeeh.

16. My favorite movies: The Boondock Saints & Stick It (two COMPLETELY different genres)

17. Since living alone I have realized I talk to myself...or even sing-talk to myself, OR I talk to items...(not conversations...like "hey sock, how did you get out of that hamper")

18. Mahmoud and I dated for two days freshman year of college...and then I guess ignited that little fire about 8 months later...5 years later we can't get rid of eachother.

19. I once passed out in the shower and hit my head on the spout. I had to get four stitches in the back of my head.

20. I have three nipples! Just kidding...just thought I would end it with a bang. Haha that is a lie. The real number 20 is...SEAL, the singers music scares me... So does Phil Collins.

Hope you had fun reading...I should have been putting away my laundry and cleaning while doing this so I hope someones found it worth reading!

Blondes Have More Fun!

I don't know if that is necessarily true, but I figured I would give it a go... So I got my hair all did blonde! I hope you like it! I love it!

Apple Orchard.PumpkinPatch.&CornMaze!!!

I have been feeling the same way as Ryan lately. I miss fall colors and fall things. This weekend some girlfriends and myself went out of the city, past the burbs to the straight country. We got to eat some cinnamon & sugar cider doughnuts drink some delicious cider...pick apples, get lost in a corn maze and more. Here are some of the pictures! We had a good fall day. It was gorgeous! It makes me miss driving and living out in the suburbs!

NEOCON

So this has been a crazy little week! Starting out with the DIFFA Gala on Saturday, and the recovery sunday...Monday began NEOCON, the largest design industry event in Chicago, which happens every year. Its at the huge merchandise mart and all the new designers release their new lines. Exciting in my world, but probably no one else's! Haha. Monday night there was an Orangeskin ( a designer furniture retailer ) party at this place called Lumen, which was sweet. Some free drinks and a few pictures taken for the "Chicago Social" magazine, it was cool. Tuesday we actually went to the merchandise mart to see 18 showrooms and their new ish. It was crowded but also interesting and exciting. Then Tuesday night after work I went to a new textiles line party at a fancy Japanese restaurant where the Persian owner introduced all their new fabrics, again something only I am probably excited about. Free sushi and wine...again cool. After that I went to the Lees Carpet party, which is apparently the be all of Neocons party...which I now understand. Free drinks, free food, free fun!! So today I finally have a minute to breath and clean my room from this craziness. Next week PYR is coming to Chicago so it will probably busy agian! Hope everyone is well!

Gala...not just APPLES!

So next Saturday I will be attending a Gala. My first ever. I wanted to show this invitation because I am super excited about it, and this invite just makes me more excited. I have to buy a nice black cocktail dress for this "black to the basics" gala, I also got my hair all did today so I can look snazzzzy. The gala is hosted by DIFFA, which is a design organization and they host this thing every year. I guess its a pretty big deal because you have to buy a table or ticket and usually firms just do that for the principals and "big guys" (dad style) But this year I guess my principal wanted the youngins to go. (i don't think some people are happy with that decision) But anyways I am excited, and I also get to start a new research project with my senior project manager tomorrow. I will let you know what thats about...it is an NY project though....woohoo.
Oh yeah and tomorrow we are also taking a work "field trip" tomorrow to the Art Institute...there is a new textiles display. Should be fun!!

Chase Corporate Challenge

So this thursday I have to decided to walk/run in the Chase Corporate Challenge. Its three miles, which I have not trained for... so I don't think I will be able to run all of it. The race donates to charities throughout the area, and and gives money to charities helping inner-city children. You can race competitively, but who are we kidding, I didn't want to steal the glory so I decided to do "non-competitive." Also, Mom and Dad are coming this weekend!!! Yey yey yey yey. They are both coming on Wednesday, later wednesday, and staying till Sunday. Sooo I am planning some things, or at least have them in mind to do with them. It should be fun! I am excited. Anyways I hope everyone is well!

Some FUNNY signs

A co-worker sent me this email which I thought was really funny and I had to share!
